Optimization of Intelligent Reflecting Surface Assisted Full-Duplex Relay Networks

In this work, we propose a novel hybrid communication network that utilizes both Full-Duplex (FD) Decode-and-Forward (DF) relay and an Intelligent Reflecting Surface (IRS) to support data transmission over wireless channels. We design the reflecting coefficients at IRS maximize minimum achievable rate of two hops for proposed network. To end, utilize change-of-variables with Semi-Definite Relaxation (SDR) approach overcome non-concave objective function non-convex optimization constraints. Our results demonstrate FD scheme is able achieve significant performance gain Half-Duplex (HD) as well IRS-only scheme, given self-interference sufficiently suppressed.
